The 2nd annual Bustin’ Clays & Pumpkins – Fall Fun Classic, organized by Edgewood Chamber of Commerce, was a huge success! More than 60 sport shooters, many in team attire, enjoyed a beautiful Autumn day at Founders Ranch in Edgewood while vying for the title of “Bustin’ Clays Champions of New Mexico.”
Local businesses and individuals from as far as Clovis participated in the team-building and networking event. Embracing the friendly competition, several groups came ready with creative attire and team names. EPCOR Water’s squad, “Edgewood Mountie Precision Shooters” wore Mountie-style t-shirts and hats (a nod to their Canadian parent company). Enviroworks’ “The Clean Up Crew” team donned neon safety vests and big smiles for their day at the ranch. Other teams had team shirts made for the event.
Popular with children and adults, was EPCOR’s “Sunny Skies” air cannon – a true ‘bucket list’ opportunity for participants to shoot the cannon, firing an Autumn orange orb on a quarter-mile flight to smashdom. Pumpkin clean-up duty was graciously performed by local 4-H group, “Elite Livestock” out of Edgewood.
In all, 15 teams and a number of individuals competed, with Top Team going to “Edgewood Terrors” (John Stroud, Nick Chronis, Tim Cornish, Mike Moran). In the Youth category (under 18), Top Gun honors went to Breale McFarland and John Alhgrim. Men’s and Women’s “Top Gun” awards were won by Ricky McCann and Suzi Miller, respectively. It was true New Mexico-style fun with a purpose, in a beautiful setting!
