Annual Walkin N Circle Ranch Jamboree

New Mexico Horse Rescue at Walkin N Circles Ranch (WNCR), located in Edgewood, is participating in the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) national Help A Horse Day contest, competing for a chance to win some of the $110,000 available in grants.

The nationwide competition for organizations that adopt out equines is designed to raise awareness about the year-round lifesaving work they do to find homes for horses. Competing organizations will be scored on fundraising efforts, number of adoptions, and marketing campaigns during the contest period which runs through June 2018. As a participating group, WNCR will host two events to help raise money for this effort.

The ranch will then host its largest community event and fundraiser of the year, the Walkin N Circles Ranch Jamboree, on Saturday, June 9, 2018, from 10 am to 3 pm. The Jamboree will take place at the Walkin N Circles Ranch located 9 miles north of Edgewood on NM 344.

Members of the community are invited to attend this family-friendly event featuring adoptable horses and tours the ranch. Families will also enjoy activities for kids, pony rides, equine demonstrations, a silent auction, food trucks and more. There will be live entertainment provided by Cactus Slim & The Goatheads from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $2 for adults (suggested donation) and children ages 16 and under are free.

Now in its fifth year, Help a Horse Day has been a meaningful way for hundreds of equine rescues to garner community support for their lifesaving work. Motivated by the results of ASPCA equine research suggesting there could be approximately 2.3 million adults in the U.S. with both the resources and desire to adopt a horse in need, Help a Horse Day 2018 is focused on finding more good homes for horses in need.

“The ASPCA Help A Horse Day contest is a wonderful opportunity for us to raise awareness about the horses we have available for adoption and place them in good homes,” said Char Hudson, WNCR Board Member. “We successfully found homes for 45 of our horses last year, and we hope our local supporters will come out to learn more about equine adoption and help us win grant money so we can continue our lifesaving efforts for years to come.”
