10K Sandia Mountain Trail Ride
SATURDAY, JUNE 22 ー Hosted by the High Desert Riders—a local equestrian group that puts on a number of trail rides and community equine activities throughout the state—the 10k Trail Ride follows ski trails on the climb to nearly 10,000 feet up to the Sandia Ski Area Lodge, leading riders to spectacular views both north and east, and to a number of great photo ops!
LOCATION: The ride starts at the parking area at Mile Marker 11 on Sandia Crest Road at 9:30am, and riders will set out on the trail by 10:15am. There is plenty of room for trailer parking on both sides of the road at this location. Ride involves some hills and rocks, and the full circle takes 3 to 4 hours, including a lunch break, setting riders’ return time between 2:30pm and 3pm.
FREE ACTIVITY! No reservations necessary for this event! Just arrive at the meeting point with your horses and a great sense of adventure, and you’ll be off on a beautiful ride!
