SPOTLIGHT: New Mexico Medical Urgent Care

A precision ribbon cutting by Dr. Marc Beverly, done with a scalpel, no less, marked the Grand Opening of New Mexico Medical’s brand new Urgent Care facility in Edgewood. Representing the Town of Edgewood were Mayor John Bassett and Councilors Rita Loy Simmons and Sherry Abraham. Several Edgewood Chamber of Commerce board members and NM Medical staff also helped mark the occasion, including Dr. Effie Medford, Medical Director.

“All of this will be a first for the East Mountains, and we hope it will save people from having to go to the emergency room [in Albuquerque],” said James Marc Beverly, PhD, PA-C, IFMGA and owner of New Mexico Medical.

The new facility offers the only “after hours” urgent care services in the East Mountain region, with regular hours of Monday – Saturday, 4:00pm-9:30pm. Its wide array of equipment and lab, surpasses the resources and services at most urgent cares in Albuquerque. New Mexico Medical Urgent Care has an in-house lab, capable of running blood tests, such as CBCs, CMPs, cardiac enzymes, and viral panels. On-site equipment such as X-ray, ultrasound, and CT scan greatly improve the capabilities of this facility.
Diagnostic tools like those can provide medical personnel with diagnostic tools that can save valuable time for a patient having a heart attack or other acute conditions, pointed out Beverly.

The facility is located about ¾ of a mile east of Walmart, at 104 Quail Trail (cross street, Church Street). Located next to Bee Hive Homes assisted living and a short distance from the Santa Fe County Senior Center will bring added convenience for local seniors.

The new Urgent Care is expected to help offset walk-ins at New Mexico Medical’s family practice locations in Edgewood, Cedar Crest, and Moriarty – reducing delays and opening additional capacity for scheduled family practice appointments. New Mexico Medical treats adults and pediatrics at its three East Mountain locations.
